News About Critical Care

Mission

The Roundtable was established to build recognition in federal policymaking circles about critical care as a unique and vital part of the U.S. healthcare delivery system. It was also launched to provide a collaborative structure by which leaders in the field of critical care and public health – practitioners, provider entities, industry and academia – can forge and advance a common agenda to influence federal policy and improve the quality, delivery and efficiency of critical care in the United States.

The Roundtable will serve this mission through --

  • Regular dialogue with key participants and leaders to ensure the quality and value of policy advocacy efforts and positions;
  • Development of priority legislative and regulatory recommendations and positions;
  • Awareness-building targeted at policy influentials of the importance of federal changes to optimize resources and infrastructure for the delivery of U.S. critical care;
  • Ongoing discussions with key federal agencies to foster appropriate collaboration and to help inform broader advocacy and awareness efforts; and
  • Direct legislative and, where appropriate, regulatory advocacy for programs that can build critical care capacity, enhance the nation’s critical care/disaster preparedness capabilities, improve the environment in which practitioners provide critical care, and foster valuable innovation and research in this arena.
